RUCBC works with and on behalf of its members to improve the quality, accessibility and coordination of university education in British Columbia. The council provides a single voice on behalf of the four research-intensive universities on public policy issues including funding, research, accountability, admissions and transfer. RUCBC is funded by the member universities and is independent of the provincial government. The four research-intensive university presidents are the members of the Council and the Chair of RUCBC is selected from these members. Professor Stephen Toope, President, University of British Columbia, is the current Chair for RUCBC and meetings are held approximately seven times during the year. RUCBC also has three Vice-Presidents Committees (Academic, Research and Administration) that meet approximately seven times a year, as well as a number of standing committees that meet as needed (e.g., Institutional Analysis, Human Resources, etc.). Staff of RUCBC include the President, a Vice-President, who is also the Executive Director of the University Public Sector Employers’ Association, a Director of Policy & Research and an Executive Administrative Assistant. |
